There are a great deal of wood
decking options. Besides
your Basic pressure Treated
wood. You have a countless
number of Exotic Hardwoods to
use for wood decking. These
hardwoods aren't as pricey as
one might think, some of them
may actually be beneficial to
the Rainforest. Buying
exotic hardwoods from a
reputable and environmentally
friendly supplier will actually
help preserve the rainforest.
Thousands of acres a year can be
saved from being burnt to the
ground for agriculture cash
cropping and cattle grazing and
keep it from being plowed for
farming or cattle grazing. So
using wood decking can help the
environment as long as you
research your supplier.

Pressure Treated Decking
Pressure Treated decking is the
most economical choice for
Decking. It is resistant to Rot
and Insects. This Decking
will last a long time, if it is
properly maintained.
It is not the nicest looking
choice, just the cheapest.
With the knew chemicals in the
ACQ it is recommended that you
use Stainless steel fasteners.
They claim that galvanized steel
will be sufficient, but we
recommend stainless because the
chemicals that they use in the
new ACQ.
A
Word About ACQ
Due to a recent change from (CCA)
or
chromated copper arsenate
to the new (ACQ) or
Aalkaline
copper quat.
The New pressure treated lumber
is highly corrosive to steel and
aluminum This a major change,
since we can no longer use
aluminum flashing. It is
also recommended to do without
galvanized steel. Which
means we should only use Copper or
Stainless Steel. I have
seen first hand how quickly the
new ACQ can eat its way through
a sheet of PVC coated aluminum.
The new ACQ is 5 times
more likely to corrode and
destroy common steel, according
to the American Wood Preserves
Association (AWPA) test results.
To me the new ACQ seems more
toxic, if it is eating through
steel and aluminum, there was
never any problems like this
with the CCA.

Mahogany
Mahogany decking has a generally
straight grain and is usually
free of voids and pockets.
Mahogany
has a reddish brown color it
will weather to a nice natural
looking grey color if left
unfinished. Mahogany has
excellent workability, and is
very durable and slow to rot.
lPE
Ipe Is Extremely beautiful and
durable it
ranges from light to dark brown
and the grain has a remarkable
contrast with lighter and darker
colored streaks. Ipe is 3
times as hard as Oak and so
heavy and dense that it sink in
water. Ipe denseness is
what makes it one of the longest
lasting woods out there. Perfect
for a beautiful Custom Ipe Deck. Ipe Decking is often
referred to as Ironwood due to
it's hardness. The Atlantic city
Boardwalk was made using Ipe,
Ipe
has definitely proved durable
there, It's a shame it
wasn't maintained and oiled it
would have made for a remarkable
site. Ipe decking is difficult
to work with because it is so
hard. It wears out blades
and bits very quickly, Like
other hardwoods it is often used
with
EB-TY
clips or other invisible
fastening systems.
